Wage or Salary:
$29.79 to $44.68 per hour
Essential Functions:
- Assumes responsibility for the efficient performance of metering support functions.
- Installs new and upgraded metering parts as necessary.
- Tests and calibrates metering equipment to ensure that measuring and billing functions are accurate.
- Verifies that metering data is accurately recorded on an hourly and daily basis.
- Performs troubleshooting activities for equipment failures and malfunctions.
- Assists with installation, maintenance, and testing of relays, SCADA, and substation equipment.
- Provides assistance with computer and communications equipment as needed.
- Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled.
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring that metering functions are completed in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Follows established quality and safety standards.
- Meets deadlines.
- Inspects work upon completion.
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Company personnel and management.
- Assists related departments as required. Answers questions and resolves problems.
- Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.
- Conducts ongoing reviews of existing metering operations and provides suggestions so improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Attends and participates in meetings as required.
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Stocks necessary equipment and supplies as assigned.
- Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Completes special projects as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience Required:
- Two to three years of related experience.
- Journeyman Meter Tech Certification is required.
- Apprentices, will be required to take the IPSA Meter Tech Program
with a max of two step test failures to maintain employment.
- Apprentices, will be required to take the IPSA Meter Tech Program
Required Knowledge:
- Thorough knowledge of metering systems, related hardware, and current and voltage circuits.
- Understanding of testing and calibrating functions.
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong technical skills in installation and maintenance of metering equipment.
- Problem solving and analytical abilities.
- Willingness to assist others.
- Good oral and written communication abilities.
- Ability to use hand tools, testing equipment, PC and computer applications.
