Position Summary
Responsible for the design and staking of new member line extensions, system improvements and cost estimates.

Qualifications

  •  Two years of customer/member service experience.
  • Experience in staking, engineering, electric or communication utilities preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to obtain a minimum of NWPPA Staking Certification within two years of hire.
  • Utility or Communication construction experience
  • Strong communication, evaluation, and mathematics.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft 365 including but not limited to: Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge and use of survey equipment including but not limited to transit, range rods and distance wheels.
  • Ability to apply OTEC line extension policies and procedures to all projects.
  • Knowledge of the NESC code to maintain a safe working electrical system.
  • Prioritize multiple projects by utilizing strong organizational and time management skills to complete work in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying scopes and timelines.
  • Takes initiative, self-motivated.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to operate 4-wheel drive and all-terrain vehicles to gain access to remote, mountainous, and rural areas.

-Meet with utility members regarding transmission and distribution line projects.
-Assess new member/developer needs for new or altered services.
-Design, layout, and calculate the estimated cost of work orders using OTEC standards.
-Obtain easements and assist in staking capital budget projects.
-Perform field construction audits by confirming actual costs compared to the estimated job and rectify any discrepancies and balance materials between the estimate and actuals.
-Reconcile red line work order field packets between the GIS/Staking and General Accounting systems, creating the as built packet.
-Assist with joint use pre and post inspections required for NJUNS
-Create and prepare easement documents for right or way access for power lines on private property.
-Create and prepare permits for utility construction on Local, State and Federal lands regulated by government and private agencies such as but not limited to Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service, Railroads, county, and city governments.
-Assist in GIS maintenance and modifications as needed.
-Participation in cooperative strategy and initiatives
This is a full-time position. This position requires that the employee be available for work outside the normal daily work period. Travel may be required within the four-county service territory during the business day and infrequently overnight. Occasional out of the area travel is expected to attend various activities such as meetings, training, and other events.
