This is a working position that also directly supervises the day-to-day activities of the Fleet Department to ensure that vehicles in the fleet are properly repaired, maintained, registered, licensed and tested to comply with all DOT, local, state and FMCS laws and regulations. Responsible for a high standard of morals and work ethics among the employees of the utility departments by developing team spirit and enthusiasm.
Qualified applicants must have a high school education or equivalent, and an Associate’s Degree or technical school diploma along with a minimum of ten years in the mechanics trade or equivalent environment. Must have working knowledge of hydraulic equipment, diesel and gas engines, and computerized test equipment. Proficiency in fabrication and welding on a variety of metals is required. Must be familiar with Microsoft products and have working knowledge of the current version of MS Office. Ability to utilize online manuals and database transportation modules. Must possess, or ability to attain, an Oregon Commercial Driver’s License Class A (subject to substance abuse testing). Must reside within 20 miles of Midstate’s headquarters facility. Must demonstrate strong initiative, strong work ethic, good attitude, proactive, creative, well-organized self-starter, highly motivated and ability to work under high demand situations. Qualifications must include broad experience, industry knowledge, strong communication skills, ability to problem-solve and meet commitments and deadlines. Must promote a safety culture and create a team player environment. This is a Salaried/Non-Exempt position.
