About the Utility

Tillamook People’s Utility District (PUD) is a customer-owned electric distribution utility providing electric service in Tillamook County and parts of Clatsop and Yamhill Counties in Oregon. Currently we serve about 23,000 customers in an area of 1,125 square miles.

PUDs tailor services to meet the needs of those they serve, and Tillamook PUD is no exception. We offer a wide array of programs for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Programs include weatherization, lighting efficiency, heat pump programs and much more.

Tillamook PUD is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, elected by the voters within its service area. The Board sets rates and policies, with the goal of providing the most benefit to our customers.

About the Position

Journeyman Tree Trimmer performs work to include trimming trees, clearing brush, maintaining the right-of-way, and providing general maintenance of Tillamook People’s Utility District facilities near power lines.

Must be willing, available, and responsive to 24-hour callout for emergency situations.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older and have earned a high school diploma or GED
  • Line clearance certified tree trimmer and possess a union journeyman’s tree trimming card
  • Class A CDL/Tanker Endorsement and Flagger Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Herbicide Right-of-Way Applicator’s License or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 45 days

Proficiency with standard operating systems and office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Internet Explorer, and customer information systems.

Effectively and professionally interact with customers in difficult, stressful situations.
Demonstrated organizational skills with proven ability to be detail-oriented, prioritize workloads, multi-task, and maintain a professional demeanor.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and establish and maintain effective working relationships and good public relations with other employees, agencies, and the general public, including individuals from diverse backgrounds or cultures.
Demonstrate to Tillamook People’s Utility District satisfaction and performance competencies.

 

Typical Physical Demands/Working Conditions

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear
Perform work-related tasks in trees up to 200 feet or more in height.
Climb trees with or without spurs and able to pull bodyweight 45 feet up a tree.
Push or pull tree limbs, often while in a tree for up to 5 minutes at a time, 4 or more times per day.
Must possess the visual acuity to operate mobile equipment safely.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach with arms and hands, kneel, and stretch, and occasionally crawling in tight spaces.
