Supv V, Engineering (Large Projects Group) R18-028
Provide direct supervision of Engineers, Project Managers, Designers, and Design Coordinators. Create an environment of open communication to build a strong Project Engineering team. Use creative problem solving to generate new solutions, share procedures and information with other design teams. Supervise all aspects of T&D line design for new construction, relocation, and upgrades.

Supervision of Employees – 30%
Supervise and lead group to meet internal and external customer needs for transmission & distribution design and project management. Understand customer design needs to better deliver high quality design services. Implement and measure effects of current programs and new work processes on Team goals. Work closely with local management, including area line managers, general foremen, storeroom, survey and other workgroups. Create a team that demonstrates excellence in all its work.
PGE Work Practices – 20%
Lead discussion and analysis of new and existing PGE design practices, standards, rules, and tariffs. Create cost savings and customer/stakeholder satisfaction while ensuring that PGE’s safety and electrical system requirements are met. Responsible for the technical work and relations with PGE customers/stakeholders to apply electrical service requirements (ESR book) and meet National Electric Safety Code, PGE Construction Standards, and OPUC tariff. Ensure continuous improvement of design processes. Work as a team with other Engineering & Design supervisors to address design issues, review and recommend potential changes to tariff or rule interpretations. Build upon the consistent application of PGE work practices.
Represent PGE with key external constituencies and customers – 25%
Build customer relations through job site visits, direct contact with individual customers, government agencies and involvement in local industry associations. Routinely communicate with customers/stakeholders to resolve issues or questions regarding transmission design projects. Participate in the local associations and industry groups. Use relationships and contacts to expedite the flow of customer information, meet customer needs and improve overall satisfaction with PGE. Motivate and encourage your team to collaborate with other PGE teams, such as the Line Department, Key Customer Management, Project Management, Property Services, Engineering, and Customer Service.
Responsible for the maximum productivity of your team and contract employees – 20%
Develop and manage operating budgets, team goals and scorecard to measure bottom line results. Select, manage and evaluate staff to build a team that demonstrates expertise, individual initiative, customer responsiveness and creativity. Support the implementation and successful use of new work tools, such as Maximo, various Design Tools and GWD. Engage team members to continually improve their skills and grow the Team’s productivity and positive results.
Storm Response – 5%
Provide leadership and coordination of the transmission engineering team during storm repair. Work with Area Line Manager, Dispatch and their respective staff to quickly and effectively respond during outage situations. 5%
