Specialist III, Utility Asset Management

Utility Asset Management (UAM) provides pole management services to PGE and other utility pole owners. UAM is charged with ensuring compliance with state public utility commission and applicable federal telecommunication regulations and tariffs, developing standards among pole owners, developing data and mapping services, and developing tailored pole management programs for PGE and other customers.

As members of Utility Asset Management, field inspectors are responsible for reviewing and analyzing permit requests to attach to PGE and external customer’s poles. Field inspectors gather data from poles in the field, to determine through structural analysis, whether the structures are adequate to support proposed attachments. Using accepted design practices and analysis programs such as Linesoft software and PGE Design Tools, inspectors ensure that support structures are maintained in compliance with applicable company standards and the National Electric Safety Code (NESC). Field inspectors routinely meet with other utility representatives and PGE General Foremen in the field to help determine the best design for correcting existing code violations and/or make ready for new licensee attachments. Field inspectors are responsible for ensuring that construction was performed in accordance with the design job and that licensees have attached in compliance with PGE requirements. Field inspectors may also be asked to manage projects of a utility or non-utility nature.
