Senior Engineers – Electrical Standards and Commodities #71988
Puget Sound Energy’s Standards Department is looking to fill multiple Senior Engineer positions on the Electric Standards team.
The Standards Department is responsible for developing operating standards and material selections that will drive PSE’s Integrated Strategic Plan (ISP) and ensures the safe, dependable, and efficient delivery of electricity and natural gas to customers.
The selected candidates will be responsible for managing a portfolio of key electrical components including switches, reclosers, fault indicators, pole/line hardware, insulators, connectors, and cutouts. These candidates will also be responsible for managing some key manuals and publications such as the Electric Distribution Line Construction Standards manual, Electric Transmission Line Construction Standards manual, Switching and Clearances Handbook, Safety Equipment, Tools, and Materials Catalog, Electric Customer Service Handbook and the Builder Handouts. In these roles, you will work with many different people including engineers, electrical craft employees, equipment buyers, safety personnel, project managers, and construction crews (both internal and contractor). You’ll also work in a wide variety of environments such as office, field, lab, and, occasionally, manufacturing facilities.
The ideal candidates will:
- Enjoy working on unstructured problems which require consultation with many stakeholders
- Have an appreciation for how our standards affect others’ work
- Have an ability to evaluate and manage risk
- Have a keen ability to identify solutions that work best for PSE, its customers, and its investors. After settling into your position, you will possess an excellent historical perspective on the construction of PSE’s electric system, and an understanding of what needs to be considered as we adapt to meet the rapidly changing and continuously evolving needs of our internal clients and external customers.
At the discretion of the hiring team, these positions may be filled as a Senior Engineer or Engineer depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
