Senior Construction Manager or Construction Manager #68213 Puget Sound Energy is looking for a Senior Construction Manager or Construction Manager, depending on qualifications, to serve as a primary construction support contact for new or modified utility installations, as well as for internal project, program and emergent work. This position provides practical and technical construction support for projects from initiation through construction completion. Responsibilities include ensuring constructability, compliance, quality control, crew productivity, cost effectiveness, and schedule adherence. This position has the authority to make real-time construction decisions as well as directing field change orders. This position includes a significant amount of field presence and travel within the company operations area. Periodic weekends and evening work may be required. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assesses and identifies contractor compliance, and forecasts any cost or schedule issues that might call for remedial actions, such as acceleration. • Evaluates field change order requests, and collaborates with the responsible PM/Eng. in order to approve scope modifications as required. • Performs daily crew inspections with focus on: safety, PSE/Industry standard construction practices, compliance to PSE Standards / project design, etc. • Performs post-construction audits to verify compliance with PSE Standards and project design. • Performs site investigations while an electrical or civil crew is working onsite for crew-related ‘Unplanned Outage Incidents’. • Identifies and works with appropriate PSE experts in technical areas to review project design specifications and drawings and to ensure that contractor-provided work is in accordance with the contract specifications. • Supports Regulatory Affairs in demonstrating prudence of resource acquisitions. • Assists the appropriate Plant, Program and/or Project Managers to assure project documentation is complete, including documentation of as-built and documentation of any non-conformances to the agreements and their resolution. • Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related field or equivalent experience. • At least ten years of increasingly responsible positions in the energy sector. • Previous involvement in project management, site management or project engineering of energy projects. • Strong analytical skills to effectively and efficiently analyze a wide array of potential business challenges. • Demonstrated experience and ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders. • Proven experience achieving structured results for unique acquisition, resource integration, operations and/or maintenance projects. • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and cultivate strong working relationships with contractual counterparties, regulators and other industry participants. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to contemporaneously document evaluation, due diligence and negotiation initiatives for later prudence purposes. • Strong organizational skills to manage complex projects. • Proficient with suite of word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • 10 years’ experience in project engineering or construction with experience in Northwest highly preferred.
