Journeyman linemen work as members of a crew to install, repair, and maintain electrical power systems including overhead and underground lines. This work is performed on energized and de-energized overhead and underground lines ranging from 120 volts to 115,000 volts.
Essential job functions include preparing and setting line poles, structures, and towers, troubleshooting, repairing, or replacing insulators, overhead and underground transformers, switches, faulted cables, defective high and low voltage conductors, wires, equipment, and other related hardware. Hot sticking experience is required.
Applicants must have a journeyman lineman card and possess a valid First Aid/CPR card and an Oregon Class A CDL, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days. The successful candidate must pass a skills test. In addition, the candidate must pass a drug screening test and background check after a conditional offer of employment is extended. Must reside within a 30-minute response time to Salem Electric headquarters.
