Principal Financial Analyst

Strategic Asset Management



The position is responsible for leading efforts in development of Strategic Asset Management’s (SAM) economic life cycle models and business cases for transmission, substation, and distribution assets. The responsibilities for this position are complex in nature and require a clear understanding of economic principles, high analytical acumen, and strong modeling capabilities. This position will work closely with subject matter experts in a team environment to understand the various factors that affect PGE’s vital transmission, substation, and distribution assets. Interaction with peer utilities and outside agencies, such as the Oregon Public Utility Commission and peer utilities, is also necessary.

Experience Required:


  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in finance or economics (a graduate degree in a related field may substitute for up to 2 years of experience at management’s discretion)
  • 8-10 years’ experience as an economist or financial analyst
  • Knowledge of regulated utility operations and accounting principals
  • Experience performing and/or strong understanding of the following:
    • Life-cycle costing
    • Benefit cost and net present value analysis
    • Risk/probability analysis
    • Calculating expected value and future outcomes
    • Probability distributions
    • Implementation/development of economic models
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills and ability to work with project team members to apply skills and techniques to solve dynamic problems
  • Prefer 1-2 years’ experience with a utility asset management program and solid understanding of the asset management life cycle process
  • Prefer knowledge of PGE organizations and functions
