Chelan PUD operates and maintains 14 parks covering more than 700 acres visited by more than 3 million visitors each year. Built between 1978 and 1995, the PUD spent $67 million developing the 14 recreational facilities that include ballfield complexes, Apple Capital Loop Trail and Rocky Reach Visitor Center.

The PARKS SUPERINTENDENT supervises the operation and maintenance of Chelan Public Utility District (District) parks, remote sites with landscaping and/or irrigation, utilities, roads and buildings owned by the Chelan PUD. Interviews, hires, evaluates, counsels, disciplines and terminates staff as required. Provides personnel management of 20 bargaining unit employees, succession planning, professional development, guidance for training, safety, and technical issues while maintaining a consistent interpretation and compliance of the collective bargaining agreement.
We own and operate the nation’s second largest nonfederal, publicly owned hydroelectric generating system. Two of Chelan PUD’s hydropower stations Rocky Reach Dam and Rock Island Dam , are part of an 11-dam system on the U.S. portion of the Columbia River, which is fed by the fourth largest drainage system in North America. Our three hydroelectric generating projects have a combined total generating capacity of over 2,000 megawatts.

Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management, or closely related field is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires five (5) years’ park operations and maintenance experience or a related field combined with supervisory/leadership experience. Experience hiring, evaluating and disciplining employees in a unionized environment is preferred. Experience managing campgrounds, sports complexes, arboretums, and/or a similar recreation facility is desirable.
