Operations & Planning Compliance Specialist V R16-400

 

This position will assist in understanding, interpreting, communicating, implementing and documenting Substation Operations compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC) regulatory standards regarding Operations and Planning (O&P).  The position must closely follow the decisions and policies at NERC and WECC and will assist in communicating such development to PGE Substation leadership.  The position will be a contributor to the overall compliance effort of PGE, responsible for partnering with PGE’s FERC Compliance Department to meet PGE’s O&P program requirements. The position requires a basic understanding of protection and control equipment and techniques used in power utility substations as well as experience administering a compliance program.

Experience Required:

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Typically an associate degree with 8+ years of experience or a bachelor degree with 5+ years of related compliance or utility experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of utility regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent skills to provide training or consulting expertise to others.
  • Effective group presentation and group process (facilitation) skills. Proficient ability to lead a group project, resolve inter-group conflicts and motivate group members; ability to work well with a diverse set of employees and partners.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Highly skilled at writing reports and representing the department at meetings; able to make impromptu speeches on behalf of the department/project as situation arises.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Comprehensive knowledge and skills to analyze the most complex problems to determine solutions.
  • Proficient in persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • Effective database skills, including PowerBase and Maximo.
  • Proficient with documentation tools like Microsoft Office, Visio and Adobe.
  • Knowledge of electric utility protection and control systems, substation equipment and communications systems.
