Duties:

The Operations Manager is a key top-level management position, reporting directly to the general manager and overseeing all aspects of electric and water distribution.  Key functional duties include direct supervision of all department personnel, departmental budget development and administration, project planning and management, system monitoring, lead and actively participate in troubleshooting and maintenance of the electric and water systems, planning and oversight of the utility’s safety program, representing the utility at pre-construction meetings for new developments, and ensuring production and efficiency of human resources.  The operations manager enjoys a large degree of empowerment and is trusted to manage the electric and water departments with minimal direct supervision from the general manager.  The operations manager position is a leadership role with Canby Utility and requires that the incumbent works effectively with the other departments of the utility toward the general goal of providing services to utility customers while working as a team member of the senior management staff. Experience Required:

Applicants for this position should possess significant experience in electric utility distribution and/or in community water system operations and maintenance, or in a related field of work.  Supervisory experience, computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite programs, functional experience in written business communications such as memos and policy drafts is essential for success in this leadership position.

Minimum educational requirements are high school diploma plus degree in engineering, business, mathematics, or communications.  An equivalent combination of education and experience in an electric and/or water utility may substitute for the higher education sought, provided the applicant possesses verified administrative skills and experience sufficient for successful performance of critical job responsibilities.
