We are currently seeking a full-time Journeyman Lineman to become a valued member of our team. This full-time position for a Journeyman Lineman offers a competitive salary that aligns with experience and the responsibilities of the role. Our linemen play a crucial role in the construction, maintenance, operation, and restoration of our cooperative’s distribution facilities. The position involves tasks such as pole climbing, significant walking and standing, frequent lifting, exposure to varying weather conditions, and readiness to respond to system outages and customer inquiries even after regular hours.

Given that Modern Electric Water Company operates with a primary obligation to provide continuous service to the public throughout the day, employees in this role are anticipated to work beyond standard business hours as circumstances require and at short notice during emergency situations.

In the role of a full-time journeyman lineman, you would qualify for an exceptional benefits package. Hiring Process: Following the initial application review, individuals who meet the selection criteria will receive communication for further details and potential interviews. Final candidates will need to provide a driving abstract, undergo a pre-employment physical, and participate in a drug screening.

Education & Qualification Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program recognized by the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee and the I.B.E.W.
  • Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake and Trailer endorsements
  • Electrical theory and construction including rigging; overhead and underground construction standards.
  • State laws governing construction.
  • First Aid/CPR card along with flagger’s card
  • Member in good standing with the IBEW Local 77
  • Familiar with W.A.C. 296-45 standards and certified in OSHA 1910.269 training.
  • Must be able to work various shifts, standby duties (on call) and overtime as required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to perform essential duties in an environment that entails a variety of weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
  • Must live within twenty (20) miles and thirty (30) minutes of Modern’s headquarters.

Additional Requirements

This position falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) according to Title 49 CFR Part 382 and Part 40. Individuals holding licenses and responsible for operating commercial vehicles on behalf of the Company will undergo a thorough motor vehicle record check, as well as drug and alcohol testing under the Company’s FMCSA drug and alcohol testing protocols. Any employment offer extended for this role is contingent upon the successful completion and satisfactory results of all pre-employment screening processes.
