Chelan County PUD is in a rehabilitation phase on its hydro generating units at Rocky Reach and Rock Island hydroelectric facilities. In 2013, the four largest units of Rocky Reach Dams (C8 through C11) were diagnosed with rotor shaft and other component cracks. The vertical Kaplan variable pitch blade units were placed in a fixed position. In 2014 the same large units showed signs of stator winding failures. The first unit (C8) was completely rehabilitated and placed back in service in January 2018. The remaining units require rehabilitation and are currently scheduled to continue through 2021.
