HEA is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the Manager of Engineering Services. This position may be assigned to either our Homer or Kenai office with frequent travel between the offices and occasional travel throughout our service territory. The successful candidate will be responsible for all distribution system design at HEA to ensure compliance with all applicable standards and will oversee approximately 16 people in this area. They will directly supervise the Engineering Services Supervisors, the Land Management Officer and others that may be assigned.
Technical responsibilities include development and approval of distribution and transmission system standards, improving workflow processes, overseeing permitting activities, GIS/mapping, automated metering and grid modernization projects. Personnel responsibilities include developing and enforcing work place practices, validating software based design tools, training, ensuring consistent member interaction at either office, budgeting including capital work plan input/implementation, personnel evaluations, complying with the Bargaining Unit contract, and responding to elevated member concerns for construction.
In order to be qualified, candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related utility field and demonstrate 10 years in the electric utility industry with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management position and at least 5 years working with design, operation and/or maintenance of electrical utility residential and commercial distribution with knowledge of NESC compliance issues. 3 years of utility level, electrical utility residential and commercial NESC compliant distribution design related work is highly desired.
Preference will be given to candidates holding a PE license under a US state licensure board with a desire for licensure under the State of Alaska.
