Line Dispatcher

Specialist III

 

Prepares and dispatches all Transmission and Distribution work for PGE and contract line crews/service crews.  Supports functions for Planning Scheduling and Line Dispatch. This position includes complex planning, coordinating, scheduling, and dispatching service work and supports work coordination for line crews and equipment for overhead and underground projects. This position will provide dispatching support to all regions as required to meet daily operating demands. The Dispatcher I position is designed for progression to the Dispatcher II as competencies are achieved and training Milestones are completed.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES 

 

60% Dispatching and Coordination (Primarily Coverage): Ensure that customer connections, maintenance, and system expansion work is completed efficiently and economically by primarily planning, scheduling and dispatching PGE and contract crews; monitoring job progress; scheduling special equipment and may include working with other utilities to coordinate work; using the ARM Scheduler to schedule and track crew work activity and monitor work backlog details.

30% Assist Operation Supervisor, Field Supervisor, other Dispatchers, and Planner with forecasting overall crew manpower needs; communicate job status with customers and all PGE interests; perform special duties as assigned and requested by the Planner/Scheduler, Dispatch and PSLD Supervisor. Fill in for the Dispatcher as requested.

10% Restoration: Assist in achieving prompt and efficient service restoration by assessing system damage to estimate resources required for repairs. Provide restoration estimates as needed. Work jointly across regions on certain projects and assist on outage repairs. Provide guidance and leadership during outage restoration. Identify regional variances in process and make recommendations for improvements.

 

 KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Proficient knowledge of Maximo
  • Advanced and deep knowledge of ARM Scheduler (Logica)
  • Proficient understanding of Central Config
  • Proficient knowledge of ARC Viewer / Field View
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to motivate others and stay positive
  • Proficient decision making and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of most PGE geographic regions
  • Demonstrated verbal communications and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally with a variety of people to accomplish goals
  • Proficient understanding of the PGE-IBEW work rules & related OPUC regulations
  • Proficient organizational and attention to detail skillset
  • Associated degree or 1-3 years in a related field required
