The Lead Master Fleet Technician works under the general supervision of the Fleet Services Superintendent who reviews work through daily observation of assigned tasks, records, and customer/vendor feedback. This position provides reliable and continuous service by maintaining and repairing VEA fleet vehicles and equipment in a safe and timely manner.
Education: High school diploma or an equivalent of education, training, and experience to satisfy the requirements of this position. Complete two-year basic automotive training program from an accredited college or trade school or ten (10) years of experience in automotive, heavy duty truck, aerial lift, cranes, and body systems repair (in a paid employee status) or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience: Experience must be sufficient to assist in management and direction of all aspects to repair, maintain and assist in the management of all fleet vehicles, equipment and personnel. Must have experience with computer systems related to fleet management.
Knowledge: Must have a thorough knowledge of equipment and tools used by mechanics. Working knowledge of service requirements and general techniques of heavy duty vehicle repair. A thorough understanding of every aspect of Fleet compliance in regards to Federal, State, and County regulations.
