SYSTEMS ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Study, design, develop and support the construction, maintenance and operation of Lane Electric cooperative’s electric distribution power system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·       Perform power system studies and provide recommendations for improvements.

·       Design, implement, and improve electrical facilities and processes.

·       Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

·       Direct and coordinate construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.

·       Perform detailed calculations to establish construction and installation standards and specifications.

·       Plan and implement methodologies and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.

·       Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment and/or the solicitations of labor.

·       Train project team members as necessary.

·       Oversee project construction efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.

·       Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.

·       Investigate customer complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend remedial measures.

·       Assist in developing long range capital project plans.

·       Develop budgets, estimate labor, material, and construction costs.

·       Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.

·       Conduct field surveys and study maps, graphs, diagrams, and other data to identify and correct power system problems.

·       Support Operations personnel to address system outages and correct issues.

·       Maintain a high level of integrity and discipline with a strong work ethic.

·       Analyze system data metrics and identify trends and patterns to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Additional Information:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

·       To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have knowledge of engineering principles and concepts with the ability to interpret engineering documentation.

·       Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with different departments and team members.

·       Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and the ability to operate various engineering software applications such as distribution analysis, fuse coordination and work order tracking.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field.

·       Experience in power system design preferred.

·       Knowledge of electric distribution power systems.

·       Must be able to pass alcohol and drug screening test. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable
