Lane Electric’s mission is to provide safe, reliable, renewable, and economical electric service to its members in rural Lane County. The Manager of Marketing & Public Relations plays a crucial role in developing and implementing the Cooperative’s internal and external marketing strategy that aligns with its strategic goals and business objectives. In addition, this individual supports the Cooperative by creating and communicating member-centric programs and working closely with others across the organization to drive positive brand awareness and member satisfaction.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

Member Relations- Take ownership for fostering a positive relationship between the Cooperative and its membership by designing and implementing strong communications programs. Create awareness and increase participation in the Cooperative’s electric vehicle, renewable energy, and emergency preparedness programs. Oversee the Cooperative’s giving and sponsorship programs, finding meaningful opportunities to support the communities it serves.
Communications- Establish and maintain consistent communication for the Cooperative’s image and brand through web, social media, advertising, and printed publications. Plan annual and district meeting events. Maintain effective relationships with the media for routine and outage-related emergency information. Evolve and lead the Cooperative’s crisis communications program.
People and Vendor Management- Successfully manage energy service team, including two direct reports. Coordinate with and supervise contract partners, including 24/7 call center, Touchstone Energy, Ruralite Magazine, marketing agency, freelance contract writers, printing and graphic design, and swag production.
Professional Development- Maintain a work style and manage priorities that enable ongoing growth.
Skills & Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, political science, journalism, or communications.
At least five years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, social media and events planning.
Proven media relations and crisis communications track record with the ability to handle moderate to high-stress levels with a clear head.
Experience managing and motivating direct reports.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.); experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) desirable.
Excellent writing skills are required. Ability to write clearly and persuasively using correct grammar.
Excellent presentation skills are required. Ability to speak effectively and efficiently to a wide variety of audiences and connect to them.
Effective communication skills that include listening, providing direction, and monitoring projects with others, both inside and outside the organization, to create clarity that produces quality outcomes.
