Under general supervision, the Staking Engineer I serves as a first point of contact and liaison for KPUD with existing and potential customers. Works closely with customers throughout the power installation process identifying construction alternatives and advising on policies and codes related to line extensions and acquiring necessary permits and easements. The position performs a wide range of tasks in connection with the design, staking, construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical power distribution and transmission facilities. This position works closely with line crews, internal staff, and external customers to ensure that projects are completed in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner. Projects include design and staking of distribution facilities serving residential, irrigation and commercial customers, distribution system improvements such as minor expansions, conversions, relocation, and rebuilds. The position is a member of KPUD’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) group, which performs aerial inspections of distribution and transmission systems, rights-of-ways, and assists line crews in line patrolling during outages.
