Duties:

Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB) is currently seeking a Key Account Manager to develop and maintain effective business relationships with EWEB customers.  Serves as the primary business contact for the customer on assigned accounts and is ultimately responsible for the relationship, providing service solutions that balance customer needs with EWEB’s cost and capacity to deliver service.

The Key Account Manager provides knowledge on all aspects of the industry including but not limited to distribution, transmission, generation, energy procurement, wholesale markets, and pricing. Researches and identifies potential solutions for power, water, fiber, and generation contract management providing all aspects of customer care. Understands, communicates, and negotiates technical energy, water, fiber, and generation issues. May represent stakeholder interests in energy service contract negotiations and contract administration. Communicates all of EWEB’s offerings to the customer and builds relationships to encourage new and repeat business opportunities, and is aware of and in pursuit of opportunities for account growth and new business.

The successful candidate must have knowledge of electric and water utility infrastructure to the extent that they can competently perform quantitative analysis of commercial/industrial facilities and construct a customer needs analysis. Consultative sales experience interacting and conducting business with commercial and/or industrial customers is required.

This position offers an opportunity build and maintain relationships with EWEB customers while providing service solutions that balance customer needs with EWEB’s cost and capacity to deliver service. The Key Account Manager will partner with EWEB’s Business Line Managers to understand EWEB’s current service offerings and provide those to customers as solutions or new opportunities for their operational efficiencies. Additionally, the Key Accounts Manager will communicate customer needs to the Business Line Managers when existing business lines may not satisfy customer needs in order to collaborate on a solution.

Experience Required:

Minimum Experience:   Six years of utility experience working with large commercial or industrial accounts, including extensive experience in the following:

  • One or more applicable utility disciplines such as rate design, power trading, energy services, utility operations, engineering, power quality, electric transmission and/or distribution or account management.
  • Identifying commercial/industrial customer needs related to electric and water infrastructure.
  • Performing quantitative analyses of commercial/industrial facilities.

Three or more years of experience in direct inside/outside sales and marketing consultative selling (years of marketing/sales experience may or may not be combined with utility account experience). Sales and marketing experience should be related to conducting business with commercial and/or industrial customers.

Education:    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, business, marketing, or other related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desirable education, experience, training and certifications:  None.

Equivalency:  An equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training which demonstrates the skills, knowledge and abilities may be qualifying.
