Chelan County PUD is located in the geographical center of Washington State at the confluence of the Columbia and Wenatchee rivers. A public power leader, the complex and progressive nature of PUD operations offer a unique mix of challenges and opportunities.
We are hiring for Hydro Maintenance and Hydro Operations Superintendents. The incumbents will manage power plant generation maintenance or operations and reliability for Rock Island, Rocky Reach, Lake Chelan and/or Stehekin power plants. Key responsibilities include: optimize the efficiency and economics of operating or maintaining plant equipment in a data driven business environment; and collaborate with plant maintenance or operations, central maintenance and engineering departments on achieving reliability goals and planning for keeping low cost, reliable and safe power. The superintendents will direct and supervise the activities of up to 25 employees (plant operators and fishway staff or maintenance staff and planner/coordinators). Maintenance superintendents are also responsible for the maintenance of fish ladders, by-pass systems and similar systems. Manages efficient and economical construction and operation of the District’s Generation facilities, associated support systems, and associated budgets. All superintendents act as duty supervisor and handle after hours emergencies as required.
Journeyman certification or bachelor’s degree (B. S., B. A.) from a college or university in Engineering, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires at least five (5) years’ skilled trade, professional, and/or supervisory work experience in power plant operations, maintenance and/or engineering. Candidates with power plant operations experience are strongly preferred. Candidates with two (2) or more years of successful supervisory experience are preferred. Candidates demonstrating initiative in leadership roles such as a planner, project leader, temporary superintendent, foreman, shop steward, or safety representative are desired.
