Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) of Fairbanks, AK is looking to hire a full-time Energy Efficiency Engineer as part of the Engineering Division located in Fairbanks, AK. GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,261 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. Powering the Interior of Alaska, GVEA contributes to the economic, environmental, and social viability of our communities.

Our Energy Efficiency Engineer is a hybrid position with dual responsibilities to support public-facing efforts towards energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and beneficial electrification while also providing engineering services to support the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the GVEA electric grid. The Energy Efficiency Engineer plays an integral role in GVEA’s ability to serve the Interior of Alaska in providing reliable electric service at fair and reasonable prices!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ENERGY EFFICIENCY ENGINEER:

  • A BSEE degree from ABET accredited program with a preferred emphasis in Power Engineering.
  • Passed F.E (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam.
  • One year of engineering experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Energy efficiency experience preferred.

Previous work experience in a Cooperative or Electric Utility would be preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position typically works Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, although a GVEA Flex Schedule may be an option.
