The Northwest Hydroelectric Association (NWHA) is seeking a passionate, collaborative and visionary leader for the position of Executive Director (ED). NWHA was established in 1981 and provides a regional voice for the hydropower industry on behalf of its membership. The ED serves as the chief executive of NWHA and must possess skills to assess current and emerging policy issues and develop communication materials and advocacy on behalf of the industry’s interests. A broad knowledge of the hydropower industry is necessary. NWHA supports several industry events and a major conference annually, activities which require ED leadership, planning and implementation. The anticipated start date for the position is October 2018, but flexibility may be considered. This is a full-time exempt position. Broad knowledge of the hydropower industry specifically and the electric power industry generally
Minimum of 5 years of proven successful executive leadership and management experience in a diverse and decentralized nonprofit association or the relevant executive leadership and management experience in private or public entity
Bachelor’s degree or higher from accredited institution in a relevant area such as public administration, MBA, law, science, engineering or other fields related to the hydropower industry.
Experience working with policymakers and government agencies to educate and influence policy.
Ability to work independently with efficiency, flexibility and self-motivation
Ability to work remotely with the Executive Committee, Board, members and affiliated associations
Computer literacy for administrative, technical and communications needs and general business knowledge
