Valley Electric Association (VEA) invites applications for the position of Executive Chief Operating Officer, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. VEA has contracted with NRECA’s Executive Search to facilitate the search process.

This opportunity is for an Executive COO with strong leadership traits, excellent communication skills, that builds trust, focuses on a collaborative team environment and is willing and wanting to be groomed for the CEO position as the present CEO moves into the President position over the family of companies.
As part of the leadership team, the Executive COO will provide advice and assistance on management matters. Key responsibilities include: Planning and Controls, Organizing and Operations. Candidates must have experience with the overall management of an electric distribution system, purchase power agreements, real time trading and transmission system operations. Other duties include governance, portfolio management, supporting the Cooperatives legal actions and responses, rates, lobbying and wholesale power supply.
The Executive COO will also be responsible for Valley Electric Transmission Association, LLC (VETA) a VEA wholly owned subsidiary that provides transmission services to VEA and others. Currently is under contract to operate 500 kV lines in CA & AZ and 230 kV, 138 kV lines in NV. VETA is the 4th largest transmission operator in the CAISO.
Valley Electric Association, Inc. is a member-owned electric cooperative with 200+ employees headquartered in Pahrump, Nevada. VEA provides service to more than 45,000 people within a vast 6,800-square-mile service area located primarily along the California-Nevada border, with the majority in Nevada. Residential members are the co-op’s largest single consumer group. VEA serves high-profile federal government facilities in Nevada, including the Nevada National Security Site and Creech Air Force Base. Must pass government security clearance requirements.
