Duties:

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in compliance with federal, state & local environmental regulations, including but not limited to SEPA, stormwater, wetlands, sensitive areas & hazardous substance management.  Evaluates site conditions and works with governmental entities, project leaders and field crews performing utility planning, construction, maintenance, emergency response work & obtaining permits.  Carries out PUD policies & programs regarding site assessments, erosion & sediment control, waste management, bird injury prevention, electric & magnetic fields & pollution prevention.  Manages environmental contracts, records & projects.  As part of a team, responds to and coordinates cleanup of oil and hazardous substance releases.  Conducts sampling of soils, water & other materials & interprets results. Effective communication, interpersonal & technical skills are a necessity.

Experience Required:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Environmental Specialist – Bachelor’s degree in environmental health, environmental science, engineering, or technical or scientific field relating to environmental matters; AND Three (3) years experience in application of environmental laws/regulations to business, industry, or governmental operations, with at least two (2) of those years in directly related areas.

Sr. Environmental Specialist – Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental health, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or other technical, engineering, or scientific field relating to environmental matters; AND Six (6) years experience in application of environmental laws/regulations to business, industry, or governmental operations, with at least four (4) years involving environmental health and compliance related program development and implementation.
