Engineer IV, Transmission Planning



Perform engineering studies for PGE’s transmission system, and provide technical guidance to PGE’s compliance organization and company engineers. Document study results and make recommendations for capital improvements to ensure compliance with the NERC reliability standards and PGE’s asset management strategy.  Participate in regional/sub-regional workgroups and effectively represent PGE’s interests to external stakeholders. 

Experience Required:


Position requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

A minimum four years of engineering experience with a Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred or eight years of engineering experience without a PE license.

Working knowledge of T&D protection schemes and automation solutions required.

Thorough knowledge of the utility business.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Effective group presentation skills.

Thorough knowledge of engineering/economic principles and concepts.

Working knowledge of applicable policies, rules, regulations, and codes in the utility engineering field.

Familiarity with utility design standards and work practices.

Ability to use powerflow software applications (e.g. CYME and PSS/E).
