Engineer I, Standards (R18-433)


Perform the functions of an entry-level Standards Engineer by providing engineering solutions to complex problems while minimizing costs and maximizing reliability.  Provide engineering expertise in assignments relating to transmission and distribution standards including overhead/underground distribution design, construction practices, street lighting, and materials and specifications.  Recommend improvements in the areas of transmission and distribution (T&D) standards, work practices, maintenance, and materials.

Experience Required:


  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Typically zero to two years of engineering experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in operation and maintenance of T&D systems desired.
  • Proficiency to review, evaluate, and analyze technical information, policies, and reports.
  • Effective in reviewing, evaluating and analyzing semi-complex technical information, policies, and reports.
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental engineering/economic principles and concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable policies, rules, regulations, and codes related to electric distribution.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Basic proficiency in technical writing.
  • Basic project management and leadership skills.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills.
  • Basic presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, and all levels of management company-wide to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Valid driver’s license.
