Director of Finance and Administration
After a productive 21-year career at Elmhurst Mutual Power and Light our current Director of Finance and Administration is retiring. Our Member owned Electric Cooperative has nearly 16,000 members and we are rapidly approaching our 100th year anniversary. Located in the South Puget Sound Tacoma area, you will find this a great place to live and work. This is also an exciting time for this position as we are upgrading our software systems from MAS90 to NISC which will allow us to integrate much of our activity under one system. Elmhurst is seeking a competent Senior Team Member and Executive who will become a key long-term member of our Organization
In this position, you will manage 8 total personnel including the Customer Service Manager, a Senior Accountant, four Customer Service Representatives and two Meter Reader Technicians. The Director of Finance & Admin directs all general accounting activities consistent with GAAP and provides monthly reports to the Board of Directors.
Our Customers are our owners. In this role you will have the primary responsibility to ensure our history of excellence in customer service. You will often deal directly with customers and manage the coordination of all member-related accounting activities including meter reading, energy and member services billings and associated sales reports, collections, and refunds. You will be expected to establish clear cross training and qualification of employees within the department for ensuring at least two employees are cross trained in each of the critical roles within the department. You will develop both short and long-term financial plans including cash management.
Coordinating the development of the annual budget and work plan for approval by the GM and the Board. You will prepare loan applications in conjunction with the approved construction work to obtain needed capital for plant expansion and Board-approved projects. You will direct the investment of available funds consistent with policies of the Board and General Manager.
The Director of Finance and Administration secures insurance coverages, including general liability, DOM, and umbrella, to ensure that Elmhurst is adequately protected against loss. In addition, direct the implementation of employee benefits including payroll. You will also provide the key support for an annual external audit.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, finance, accounting or related field is highly desired. Additional training pursuant to Public Accountant Certification will be considered as highly desirable.
