This position has primary responsibility and provides the specialist capability for the installation, modification, adjustment, replacement, diagnosis, repair, software maintenance programming, and preventive maintenance for real-time digital electronic computer control systems (Data Acquisition and Control Systems [DACS]). These systems are the critical link for communication and control between the project generator load control equipment and the power marketing agency’s load control for reliability and stability of the region-wide power system. The region consists of the entire western United States and western Canada. Systems may include digital processors, digital communication systems, sequential events recorders, remote terminal units, and input/output equipment related to plant-wide centralized and remote digital control of major hydroelectric projects.

SCREEN OUT ELEMENT: Qualified applicants for this position must have the ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF AN ELECTRONIC SYSTEM CONTROL CRAFTWORKER WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision; You must have the ability to perform the common tasks associated with repair and maintenance of electronic equipment; this would include the ability to receive oral instructions as to the nature of repairs, installation, or maintenance to be made, and the ability to proceed to carry out the work, receiving advice and assistance as required. Such work includes cleaning, making adjustments and/or repairs, calibration and retesting equipment including various relays, meters, recorders, controllers, indicators, radio transmitters and receivers, oscillators and amplifiers, electronic relays and other electronic and communication equipment. Failure to meet the screen out element will result in an ineligible rating.
