The Eugene Water & Electric Board is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Associate II or III to provide engineering support for the smart meter (AMI) deployment project. The successful candidate will serve as the single point of contact for troubleshooting and implementation procedures for smart meter deployment. This position will be responsible for managing overall scope, schedule, and budget management under the strategic direction of the project sponsor.
The selected candidate will also work within Systems Engineering to support the utility’s substation, transmission, distribution and generation system by performing capital program upgrades and operations and maintenance. Such duties include:
- Perform routine engineering design and analysis for projects.
- Develop and implements scope, schedules and budgets for routine projects or less complex portions of more difficult projects.
- Perform basic engineering planning, feasibility studies (including technical report writing), cost estimating, economic analysis and develops alternatives to help determine solutions to operational problems, regulatory concerns, efficiency improvements, asset management issues, etc.
- Troubleshoot operations and maintenance problems.
- Provide preliminary cost estimates, project scopes and schedules.
- Work with field crews and operations personnel to streamline work procedures and provide troubleshooting support.
Assignments will also include the coordination and oversight of similar work that is performed by consulting engineers and EWEB technicians.
The Engineering Associate will play a large part in the deployment of the smart meter (AMI) project by ensuring technical requirements are met within budget and schedule targets. Additionally, this role will be able to influence the strategic direction of the project’s impact on future uses of smart meter data and prioritization of deployments.
The successful candidate will be provided an opportunity to develop and refine their technical skills in project management, planning, analysis, design, implementation, commissioning, and support for the operation and maintenance of electrical systems. The AMI project will provide opportunity for leadership and involvement in a cutting edge technology for future outage management and system analysis. This will prepare EWEB for upgrade and automation of the distribution system.
