We are looking for a dynamic individual who can work on multi-discipline teams in the fast paced world of Operations and Maintenance of Hydropower, Dam, and fish collection equipment. Work is in support of 13 dams in the Willamette Valley Project and includes eight hydropower facilities with 429 MW of generation capacity. Work also includes support for fish collection facilities and other flood risk management assets. The individual will work on many product delivery teams with talented teammates from many different scientific and engineering backgrounds to solve complex technical problems and improve overall system reliability and safety. The best candidates will demonstrate a strong ability to work well with other and solve difficult technical issues in a team environment.

At the full performance level (GS-12), you will serve as an Electrical

Engineer at a large hydroelectric facility. In this capacity, you will:

  • Plan for electrical installation activities at a hydro facility to include power generation units, excitation systems, and control systems
  • Design modifications to existing hydroelectric equipment, integrating new technology to existing technology
  • Troubleshoot protective relay and control systems (digital and analog)
  • Serve as a technical expert for contract administration
  • Perform studies on hydro equipment and systems
  • Create and interpret tests/test results on equipment



Experience Required:

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of Electrical Equipment
  • Knowledge of Power Generation Transmission
  • Knowledge of Protective Relay and Control Systems
  • Ability to Review, Create, and Administer Contracts
