This position is part of a team of highly qualified employees responsible for the design, field coordination, and technical supervision of construction projects by SE crews and contractors. The position works directly with members, government agencies, and other utility personnel to solve problems, and oversees construction and performance of system maintenance. The position has primary responsibility in many technical areas and secondary support in others, including but not limited to member inquiries, new services and system designs, regulatory oversight, FERC/NERC/WECC, EPA/DEQ, SCADA, substation maintenance, and coordination with the other Engineering and Operations staff for day to day work.

Responsibilities include engineering on-call duties after hours and weekends, approximately one out of every four weeks, and the ability to respond to the office within 30 minutes when on duty.

Experience Required:

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with electrical utility distribution systems and an electrical engineering degree or relevant industry experience. The applicant must have the ability to interpret plans and specifications, and coordinate and establish effective working relationships with employees and the public. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Applicants should have a basic understanding of network computer systems and associated peripheral equipment. Familiarity with Microsoft applications, storage solutions, ethernet and fiber optics is encouraged.

Candidates should have a sound knowledge of federal and state regulations such as the National Electrical Safety Code, EPA and OSHA standards as they apply to utilities. Experience with FERC/NERC & WECC is preferred. Candidates must be comfortable working within a regulatory environment and possess a valid driver’s license.
