The Petersburg Municipal Power & Light utility in Petersburg, Alaska is looking for a leader upon the retirement of the former Superintendent after 14 years. The Electric Superintendent is responsible for managing a $5.6 M budget, consisting of a local hydroelectric facility, diesel generation, and local line crew and other staff. In addition, the Superintendent must work closely with Southeast Alaska Power Agency to maximize the efficiency of our regional power transmission system. The Electric Superintendent reports to the Borough Manager and is one of twelve department heads helping to make our home such an incredible place to live.

Experience Required:

The position requires someone with 5-7 years of experience leading staff and managing infrastructure projects in a utility environment. The perfect candidate will be collaborative, approachable, responsive, and knowledgeable of the intricacies of a public power utility. He or she will be as comfortable talking to a local rate payer as they are addressing the Borough Assembly. Knowledge of diesel generation, hydro power facilities, electrical distribution systems, and energy efficiency programs is very important. Ability to obtain an Alaska Driver’s License is required.  Expected salary for this position is $90,000 – $110,000, DOE.
