Directs the District’s safety and health programs and safety staff to ensure injury prevention, safety compliance, and an organizational culture that values an accident-free workplace.

The Safety and Health Director is responsible for recommending and implementing key programs to promote a culture of safety excellence, to ensure compliance with safety regulations, and to preserve worker health and safety for a generation and transmission utility with multiple work locations.  Represents Chelan County Public Utility District in regional preparedness exercises and leads organization wide emergency response activities.

Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree (B. S., B. A.) in safety and health, industrial hygiene or a closely related field from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically requires a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in increasingly responsible positions with broad exposure at the managerial level to a variety of employee safety activities. Typically this experience would be acquired in the power industry and would include five (5) years of successful management, including management of cross-departmental projects. Five (5) years of supervisory experience is required. Experience implementing change management and/or Human Performance Improvement/High Reliability Operations initiatives preferred.  Desirable certifications (in order of preference) include Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP-Green), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and/or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist).
