Puget Sound Energy’s 24×7 Transmission Operations and Balancing Control Center (The Load Office) is looking for a Consulting Engineer to join our team! At the discretion of the hiring team, this role may be filled at a lower level. To apply, please search for position at pse.com/careers.

This role will provide engineering support for PSE’s Transmission Operations. The candidate will work closely with Power Dispatchers, Generation Operators, and Interchange Scheduling ISO to ensure reliable operation and compliance with NERC/WECC standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Support real-time operational needs of the transmission system.
· Maintain accurate Network Model in EMS
· Perform Network Model changes to accurately reflect power system changes and coordinate communication of changes with neighboring entities
· Perform powerflow studies to validate next day operation
· Participate in regional operations planning coordination
· Ensures compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements related to transmission planning and operation.
· Provides a detailed design review of internal or external technical documents.
· Prepares project evaluations without direct supervision.
· Identifies potential areas of weakness with assigned work, and initiate corrective action.
· Documents and shares work with others to strengthen the depth and breadth of skills within PSE’s engineering workforce.
· Ensures that problem solutions are tailored to PSE’s business environment.
· Supports emergency response work as requested including immediate and extended restoration efforts driven by weather and other system failures.
· May lead or coordinate the work of junior engineers, engineering assistants, field technicians, and others who assist on specific projects. (This includes contractor/consultants.)
· Performs other duties as assigned.

CONSULTING ENGINEER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or other appropriate engineering field.
· Extensive experience in planning, design, specification preparation, maintenance, project cost estimating and scheduling (typically achieved after 10 years’ practice as a degreed engineer).
· Advanced technical and scientific expertise.
· Experience leading engineering projects.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external customers.

SENIOR ENGINEER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or other appropriate engineering field
· Substantial experience in planning, design, specification preparation, maintenance, project cost estimating and scheduling (typically achieved after 7 years’ practice as a degreed engineer).
· Demonstrated organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience working in the utility industry.
· Experience in real-time transmission network modeling, powerflow analysis and operations.
· Possession of or ability to acquire a Professional Engineering license.
· Knowledge of engineering economics and analysis.
· Experience working on complex engineering projects.
