The City of Ashland is hiring a Line Installer for its Electric Utility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The successful candidate will install, maintain and repair overhead and underground electric facilities and equipment including towers, poles, distribution lines, conduit, ground wires, insulators, transformers, meters, highway lighting (traffic signals and lights) and sub-stations. Perform related duties including tree trimming, stringing of lights, banner installations, etc.
Follows all safety rules and procedures established for work areas.
Installs, maintains and repairs new and existing overhead and underground electric facilities.
Ability to use power and hand equipment, dig holes for poles, towers and other equipment to hold overhead electrical wiring. Transports pole or tower to site, remove old or damaged pole. Inspects, maintains and repairs overhead distribution lines using bucket truck or by climbing the poles. Installs grounds and insulating devices.
Performs installation and maintenance on all types of conductors. Installs and maintains insulators, remove defective insulators, wash or clean existing insulators. Operates a variety of small hand tools, climbing tools, power assisted tools and meters. Operates moderate to heavy equipment such as line trucks with diggers, derricks, bucket trucks and backhoes.
Delivers excellent customer service to citizens in the community; conducts all city related functions in a professional and respectful manner. Responds to customer inquiries and concerns with a positive demeanor.
Works with other City departments on projects and tasks in a cooperative and positive manner.
Performs as a member of the team; acts ethically and responsibly; supports and demonstrates engagement in diversity, inclusion and equity and maintains effective working relationships with others; demonstrates professionalism and respect in all workplace interactions.
Arrives to work, meetings, and other work-related functions on time and maintains regular job attendance.
Performs holiday light decorating and banner installations, as required.
Responds to on-call assignments as outlined and directed.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
AUXILIARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Establishes and maintains cooperation with coworkers, customers and managers. Demonstrates willingness to collaborate with other departments. Is tolerant of others and reconciles differences of opinions in a calm manner.
Maintains work areas in clean and orderly manner.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Completion of high school education or equivalent. Completion of Line Apprenticeship
License: Completion of State Certified/State Approved Line Apprenticeship program and the ability to pass a journeyman lineman's test administered by IBEW, possession of valid Oregon Commercial Class A Driver's License (or ability to obtain) and acceptable driving record.
Certificates in Flagging, Forklift Operation, Competent Person and First Aid/CPR or ability to obtain within three months.
Possession of working knowledge of OSHA Reg. CFR 1910.269.
Must reside within response time requirements.
Demonstrate proficiency in the use of "hot stick" live line tools or be willing to attend training.
