Job Opening: Managing Director, Generation & Transmission

Experience the Columbia River! We are looking for an experienced executive to lead and direct the Generation and Transmission business unit. Functional responsibility includes planning, developing, engineering, maintaining, and operating multiple hydro generation plants, the transmission system, and reliability compliance. This position is a member of the Senior Management Team and reports to the General Manager.
Working closely with other executives to develop and implement District wide strategies, the Managing Director, Generation & Transmission may be appointed acting General Manager in the absence of the General Manager.
What you will do:
- Oversee five subordinate supervisors who supervise approximately 250 bargaining unit and non-bargaining unit employees in the Rock Island, Rocky Reach, and Lake Chelan hydro plants: Central Maintenance, Transmission Engineering, System Operations, Operations Reliability, Reliability Compliance, and Plant Engineering departments.
- Act as a member of the Senior Management Team providing operational direction, policy management recommendations for the District.
- Direct the engineering, maintenance, and operation of multiple hydro generation plants, the transmission system, electrical control system, and reliability compliance.
Abilities you will bring:
Working knowledge of all aspects of District hydro plant, electrical system, and transmission system operations and reliability compliance. Also requires related knowledge of engineering principles, project management, licensing obligations, and applicable policies, procedures, and regulations for assigned area of responsibility.
General knowledge of budget preparation, expenditure control, rate setting, revenue forecasting, and financial risk management principles.
Ability to effectively manage people and lead change. Must be able to develop strategies and goals and monitor performance of people and the operation.
Ability to develop and prioritize District wide goals and objectives.
Education and Experience requirements include a BS degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience. Requires 15 years progressively responsible experience in power plant and/or transmission operations, maintenance, construction, project management or engineering, or a closely related area., 5 years of supervisory experience, and 3 years of experience in a senior leadership role, establishing direction and strategy for the units managed.
