$34.51 –  per hour

Overview
Drafting Technicians create and maintain drafting documents for District systems, equipment, and facilities including hydro power generation plants, electrical transmission and distribution systems, fiber optic distribution systems, parks, fish hatchery facilities, water/wastewater systems, and general office facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering drawings as assigned. Retrieve, collect, and file drawings.
  • Research and locate accurate plans and drawings and provide copies to District project management, engineering, real estate, or other staff.
  • Perform field data collection as needed.
  • May assist surveyors in field work or perform other cartographic tasks
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Comply with District policies.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
  • Employees with access to confidential employee records and information are required to restrict access from any unauthorized person, except on a need to know basis.
  • As a secondary function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

Education
Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

  • One (1) year of academic drafting from a college or technical school preferred.
  • Associate Degree Or certificate in an engineering related field such as CAD drafting desired.

Experience

Typically requires one (1) year experience performing engineering drafting or similar duties using AutoCAD based software.

Skills and Abilities
A fully skilled incumbent will have the following knowledge skills & abilities:

  • A working knowledge of drafting terminology, principles, techniques, and equipment.
  • Ability to use drafting instruments skillfully and accurately.
  • Ability to transfer data from “as built” drawings to master drawings with accuracy and neatness.
  • Ability to perform arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy. Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to operate computer aided drafting equipment and AutoCAD based software. Will be required to successfully pass drafting test administered by District.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to use general office equipment including computers, printers, plotters, scanners, copy machines and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Incumbents are also required to be able to use AutoCAD software and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.

Pursuant to the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards, Chelan County Public Utility District #1 conducts background screening of personnel who have access to the District’s critical physical and/or cyber assets.
