Snohomish County Public Utility District
Assistant General Manager of Distribution & Engineering Services
Snohomish County Public Utility District (the District), the 12th largest publicly-owned utility in the nation, seeks an experienced power delivery executive to become the utility’s next Assistant General Manager of Distribution & Engineering Services (AGM). He or she will oversee a power delivery system comprised of over 6,000 line miles of 12kV distribution, over 300 miles of 115kV transmission, 115,000 power poles, 90,565 transformers, and 87 substations. The AGM will lead a 540-person workforce, report to the CEO/GM, and regularly present to an elected three-member Board of Commissioners. The District is in the middle of a decade-long implementation of a comprehensive and robust smart grid system. Recent efforts focused on substation and distribution automation, as well as, an Outage Management System, Work Management System, Energy Asset Management System, and a substation-scale energy storage test site. The District is now embarking on implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).
The AGM will provide leadership to enhance and improve operational safety and reliability, while also continuing efforts to fully utilize all technologies to ensure the District consistently elevates performance metrics, financial results, and service delivery for the benefit of customers. He or she will have seven direct reports responsible for the planning, design, engineering, construction, operations and maintenance work performed by the following departments: Transmission, Distribution & Substation Engineering; System Planning & Protection; GIS, Maps and Engineering Support Functions; Line Construction & Maintenance; Substation Construction & Maintenance; Vegetation Management; Telecommunication Services; Real Estate; Environmental Affairs; Transportation & Fleet Management; System Dispatch; and Metering, Operational Technologies, and Local Offices. Qualified candidates must demonstrate progressively responsible experience in a utility setting that includes serving successfully in a senior management role over power delivery functions. Beyond the technical aspects of transmission, distribution and substation planning, engineering, maintenance, and operations, the successful candidate must also offer strong leadership experience that includes managing a large and diverse workforce. He or she must work collaboratively with the CEO/GM and his/her peers. In addition, the successful candidate must possess proven abilities in empowering, mentoring, and developing employees. A Bachelor’s degree is required and an engineering curriculum is viewed as beneficial. An MBA is also viewed as ideal. The total compensation and relocation package is competitive and will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The position will remain open until filled. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume preferably by October 25, 2016 to: Joyce Gallo at Mycoff, Fry & Prouse firstname.lastname@example.org (800) 525-9082.
