Journeyman Meterman

Mason County PUD No. 3, located in Shelton, Wash., has an immediate opening for a journeyman meterman.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent; must have completed a recognized apprentice meterman program and hold an official journeyman meterman card or its equivalent; must have or be able to obtain a valid Washington State driver’s license within six months of hire; must have a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic metering principles gained through formal education and/or practical experience; and must have the physical ability to perform the essential duties required of a journeyman meterman.

Current rate of pay: $33.73 per hour.

The City of Forest Grove, Ore., Light and Power Department is seeking a Journeyman Meterman (M/F); excellent fringe benefit package. The City of Forest Grove (pop. 20,775) is a “full-service” city covering an area of 4.5 square miles and located only 23 miles west of Portland. It offers the advantages of small city living, while only 45 minutes from downtown Portland and 60 minutes from the Cascade mountain range of the Pacific coast.

The Journeyman Meterman performs a variety of technical duties related to installing and maintaining electrical metering system, substation equipment and associated facilities; installing new electric meters; and other related duties.

The successful applicant will have the equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in electric metering installation, maintenance and repair, advanced computer skills, and completion of an approved meterman apprenticeship program plus one year of experience working as a journeyman meterman. Special consideration will be given to those applicants with knowledge in the installation and testing of substation control devices including relays and monitoring devices. Position also requires possession of an appropriate, valid Journeyman Meterman certificate and valid Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements.

Homer Electric Association, Inc., is seeking a person to fill the position of Metering/Apparatus Technician in the Kenai office.

Associate’s degree in electronics, or electrical technology, and two years experience in maintaining and installing power metering devices and protective relaying equipment is required.

Installs/maintains large power load and substation metering equipment; receives, inspects, and tests new meters; tests, repairs and replaces single and polyphase meters; investigates and resolves complaints involving power quality and metering; performs maintenance testing and repair of internal workings of substation and line equipment, and other duties as may be required.
