The Board of Directors of Wells Rural Electric Company is seeking a strategic, collaborative, progressive individual with broad industry knowledge and exceptional communication skills to lead the cooperative as their next CEO. Wells Rural Electric Company has retained NRECA Executive Search to facilitate the search process.

 

About Wells Rural Electric Company:

The Wells Rural Electric Company service territory encompasses approximately 1,500 miles of line across Nevada and Utah. Wells Rural Electric Company has offices in Wells, Carlin, and West Wendover, NV, with approximately 50 employees, 6,100 meters and 4,100 members. The service territory encompasses approximately 11,000 square miles. Peak load is 105mW, with 85% commercial/industrial load.  Wells Rural Electric is a BPA customer utility.

Successful CEO candidates will have a background working in an electric utility with knowledge of financial management, power supply, member engagement, community outreach and employee engagement, as well as an understanding of the requirements necessary to create a resilient, safe, and reliable system. If you are a progressive leader with electric industry knowledge, possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills and you understand the importance of collaborating with others, these attributes will set you apart from other candidates.

Experience and Expertise:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 10 years of electric utility experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years’ experience leading and managing staff is preferred. Electric cooperative industry experience also preferred.

The successful candidate must be willing to become a Wells Rural Electric Company member and live within 30 minutes of the cooperative headquarters in Wells, NV.

Our Location:

Wells Rural Electric Company’s headquarters are in Wells, NV with offices in Carlin and West Wendover, NV.  Wells, NV has an elevation of 5,630 feet and is located in Elko County, in the northeast part of Nevada on Interstate 80. There are approximately 1,300 people that live in Wells. The town of Wells is a starting point for some of the nicest scenic drives in Nevada. Angel Lake, known for its bighorn sheep, mountain goats, pronghorn antelope and other wildlife, is part of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, and is located approximately 12 miles from Wells. Angel Lake is known for its incredible scenery and provides visitors with the opportunity to hike, fish, view wildlife and camp. In addition, Wells is near Clover Valley, Ruby Valley, the Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge, and within 30 miles of Lamoille Canyon making it an ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts.
