This year's Executive/Administrative Professional Workshop will be held in Whitefish, Mont. The workshop will provide attendess with a number of training sessions that the planning committee has requested, including going paperless in the board room, learning more about SharePoint, discussing the changing workforce, and working with multiple generations.

8:30–10 a.m. General session: SharePoint Basics

In this fast moving, high-level, and interactive workshop, you’ll be exposed to SharePoint and its broad capabilities. You’ll grasp the way that you can use Document Libraries, Lists, and Workflows to collaborate on projects and as teams. You’ll see and understand how SharePoint and Office Integrate as an information management system. You’ll explore SharePoint tools such as Issue Tracking, Discussion Boards, and Wikis and how they can benefit your organization. SharePoint is a different way of working. It’s here, and it’s ready to be embraced.

By the end of this session, you’ll be able to:

  • Describe the benefits of leveraging SharePoint for your organization.
  • Identify basic functions of collaboration technology and Microsoft SharePoint team sites.
  • Specify the relationship between SharePoint and Microsoft Office

1–3 p.m. General session: The Changing Faces in the Workforce

Overview:

Business as usual is at the end of an era.  Management by control and motivation by incentive are giving way to a new potential; stewardship, partnering, self-reliance driven by inspiration. Our culturally ingrained sense of safety and security has come from having someone in authority leading the way, e.g. parent, teacher, boss.  Our trust in our own ability to have the answers, to be self-driven and to follow our knowing is a potential waiting for us to recognize, have the courage to pursue and to change our workplace to support our potential. This workplace change toward supporting our potential will come from a transformational change in focus from management and motivation to engaging each other to be self-reliant, to be accountable for how we produce and to commit to results.
